Updates from Astral Studios — patches, releases, and dev notes.
Astral is live on iOS again, now published as Astral Projection Game. The full open world sandbox is playable on iPhone and iPad, which means the game is available on all four platforms — iOS, Android, Steam, and Meta Quest.
Multiplayer sessions now support proximity voice chat powered by Dissonance Voice Chat. Players can speak to each other in-game, with audio volume scaling based on how close you are to other players.
A new in-game radio system is now live and will play when you enter a vehicle. Stations feature a mix of lo-fi tracks, songs I wrote the lyrics for, and songs written by AI. These songs are generated with Suno AI.
My Apple Developer license expired in February 2026, which caused Astral Mobile Edition to be removed from the App Store. Astral is still fully available on Android and Steam, and the VR Edition remains live on the Meta Horizon Store. Plans are in place to restore and expand the iOS release — more details when that’s underway.
Update — resolved in August 2026. The game is back on the App Store as Astral Projection Game.
Astral has been submitted to the Meta Horizon Start Competition. Check out the full submission on Devpost for details on the build and vision behind the VR edition.
ASTRAL VR Edition is now live on the Meta Horizon Store. The full open world sandbox experience is now playable in virtual reality on Meta Quest.
The crash on iPhone that made Astral unplayable is now resolved. The game should load normally again on iOS. Thanks for your patience and support while I tracked this down — I’ll keep monitoring stability moving forward.
I would like to apologize to everyone on iPhone — the game currently crashes when loading, essentially making it unplayable on iOS. As a solo developer I can’t fix this right away, but I’m working on finding the cause and hope to have a solution soon.
Astral is now available on Steam for Windows. The Steam edition brings the full open world sandbox experience to desktop.
